Appletify AS

Better Apps. Brighter Ideas.

You have arrived here for one of about five reasons. Rather than write one page that half-serves all of them, below is the same company explained five times — pick the paragraph that is actually yours.

You are about to install something

Then the only thing you need from this page is whether the app is going to behave. It is called Fold, it is a paper-folding puzzle, and it is the only thing this company publishes.

  • No account. It opens on a sheet of paper. There is nothing to sign up to.
  • No network permission at all. Google prints the permission list on the store page, from the package itself. Check it before you install.
  • No advertising, no analytics. Nothing is measured and nothing is sold.
  • Progress stays on your phone. Uninstalling takes it with you.

If that is all you came for, you are done. The privacy notice says the same thing at greater length, sorted by how you would check each claim.

Declarations, stated plainly

The Data safety form declares no data collected and no data shared, and that matches the published notice. No advertising SDK, analytics library, crash reporter or billing library is compiled in, and the merged manifest declares no INTERNET permission. The app is suitable for all ages, contains no user-generated content, no social features and no external links out of the game.

If anything here disagrees with what the console shows you, the console is right and this page is stale — please write, and it will be corrected rather than argued about.

You are checking whether this is a real company

It is, and you need not take this page's word for that. Appletify AS carries the suffix AS because it is an aksjeselskap, Norway's standard limited form. Three things follow: the company exists in law independently of the individual behind it, accounts are filed for it each year, and a public register — Brønnøysund — carries its particulars. Search there on the name and the address below, and whatever you find is true whether or not this site ever existed.

About the address

It is a c/o address at Snarøya, outside Oslo. That is normal for a small company and it is where post reaches the person responsible, which is the only thing an address on a page like this is for.

About the size of it

One director, one developer, one product. There is no support department and no overnight rota, so whoever opens your message is also the person who would sit down and write the fix. Expect a reply more slowly than a helpdesk would manage, and a repair rather more often than one would deliver.

What is not claimed

Nothing resembling a roadmap appears anywhere, since a company this size cannot honour one and knows it. Nor is it suggested that folding paper will sharpen your mind or do anything else to you; it is a puzzle. Whatever figure Google Play displays is the price, and no number on these pages constitutes an offer, a quotation or a forecast.

Reader four

You are here about data protection

The controller is Appletify AS within the meaning of Article 4(7) — the company decides why and how any personal data connected with Fold is processed, and the company answers for it. In practice the company's holdings come to two things: public reviews, which are Google's to keep and ours only to read, and letters people send us, which are kept while the matter is open and deleted afterwards.

No processor is engaged, so there is no Article 28 agreement; nothing is transferred outside the EEA by us, so no Chapter V instrument is relied on; and no data protection officer has been appointed, Article 37 not requiring one of a company this shape. Data enquiries go to crease@appletify.monster and are answered within a month.

The full account is in the privacy notice for Fold, which is arranged by something more useful than clause order: how you would go about checking each claim. The claims you can test yourself come first; the ones that rest on nothing but our word are gathered at the end and named as such, together with the supervisory authority you can take them to.

You came for the arithmetic

Fold is about seeing, several folds ahead, how a sheet has to collapse. There is a clean piece of mathematics underneath that, and it says something genuinely unexpected about where the difficulty in such a puzzle actually lives.

Take a straight strip of paper divided into n equal panels, with a crease between each pair. Fold it right down so every panel is stacked. Two counts matter: how many mountain-and-valley patterns the creases could carry, and how many orders of stacking the paper will physically tolerate without passing through itself.

Panels8
Creases7
Mountain/valley patterns possible128
… of those, actually foldable128
Ways to stack the panels40,320
… of those, physically possible1,392
Share of stackings that work3.45%

Absent from this box, deliberately: any level, any hint, any solver. It generates a strip of its own and exhausts the ways of stacking it. Which flap to take on an actual sheet is a question it cannot answer, having never been shown one — and the finding above is exactly that reading a crease pattern and knowing the answer are two different accomplishments.
